The Best Time to Schedule an Interview
When you finally get that call now it’s time to schedule your interview as soon as possible. Although, some companies give you the privilege of choosing time and date for your interview but don’t rush. Think twice before choosing a date and time. Research has shown that paying attention to those details can highly impact the chances of getting the job. Here are some tips to keep in mind.
Don’t be the First One
You can barely take the advantage of being the first candidate. Since your interviewer may need some time to plan his daily tasks or to drink coffee and doing stuff before jumping in for the day. Or even in the worst case, he could be late what makes him stressed, hence it would have a bad effect on your interview. The other bad point is that being the first one can make you a benchmark against all other candidates and if you haven’t done anything extraordinary but a standard interview they won’t consider you as their number one.
Try Not to Be the Last One
We are all familiar with that feeling when we almost done at work and start thinking about after work plans. So, never schedule the interview at the end of the work day because your interviewer could barely focus on you since he is thinking about other plans.
Don’t Schedule after Holidays
Most of us have experienced that hardship of being in the office after long fun holidays. Obviously, everyone needs some time to get back to their daily routine. Well! your interviewer isn’t an exception. So never schedule after long holidays or even after a weekend.
After all, if you want to have hiring manager’s full attention it’s better to choose a day from Tuesday to Thursday. Besides, research has shown that the most productive time for the job interview is on Tuesday at 10:30 am. It’s a time when managers are more likely to feel most positive, open-minded and receptive. Realizing that it’s pretty stressful time of your life take your time and make the right decision. Good Luck!
